The BID Foundation Council convened for its first meeting of 2019 last week in Bristol. 22 practitioners were elected to serve and represent the needs of members, from across the UK. 

The BID Foundation Council contributes to the smooth running of the industry body for Business Improvement Districts, with accountability to its members, in line with its constitution. The Council provides leadership and governance, including the development of strategies and business plans, the commissioning of research, the establishment of standards and membership requirements, financial oversight, membership development, and other support, as and when required.

At the meeting, Bill Addy, Chief Executive of Liverpool BID Company was elected as Chair and succeeds Andrew Coper, Chief Executive of LeedsBID, who has taken up the role of Co-Vice Chair, alongside Stefan Gurney, Executive Director of Norwich BID.

Cat Mitton, Executive Director said, “I am overwhelmed by the support received for serving on the Council. I am honoured to be working with very experienced practitioners, who represent the industry both geographically and bring sector specific knowledge of commercial, property owner and industrial BIDs too” I am looking forward to working with the Council to shape our work in 2019 and beyond”.

Bill Addy, Chair of The BID Foundation added “I am delighted to be elected as Chair as I firmly believe that we are developing a truly independent strong representative body with an exciting future, which I am be privileged to serve. I would like to thank Andrew for his hard work in 2018 who has been a pillar of strength for the organisation and I look forward to continuing to work with him and the rest of the Council.”

Nominations were sought from all members of The BID Foundation last autumn to serve on the Council for 2019 for 2 years. Membership of the Council was open to any person holding the primary executive position (e.g. CEO, Executive Director, BID Manager) within a BID who is a member in good standing of The BID Foundation.
