Atmospheric methods training

9th June 14.00-16.00, Manchester Metropolitan University Business School (room tbc)

This in-person training session at Manchester Metropolitan University delivered by Dr Chloe Steadman and Loretta Lipworth will teach participants about a range of sensory and creative methods that can be used to understand how a place feels, including: drawing/mapping, photography, poetry, sensory participation, smellwalk, and soundwalk. You will learn about the value of these sorts of methods, try one of these methods out yourself on a walking tour in Manchester, and reflect on the value of atmospheric methods in your future work.

The training session is based on a research project undertaken by Steadman and Lipworth about methods for researching atmospheres on the high street, where they have produced a series of Atmospheric Methods Guides you can read through before the session.

You can register to attend the session by filling in a registration form here.

Anyone interested in learning more can read the published paper here.
