Professor of Responsible Tourism at Manchester Metropolitan University and Director of the International Centre for Responsible Tourism, Harold leads the Institute's work in this area. He has worked on projects across the world in countries including The Gambia, India, Indonesia, Zimbabwe, Slovenia, Albania and Bulgaria.

Ares is the founder and CEO of INPOLIS. He has implemented numerous projects in urban and regional development working with districts, cities, and regions in Germany and worldwide. He is a Professor in Metropolitan Studies at NYU Berlin and a guest lecturer in Urban Economics at the Urban Management programme of the Technical University in Berlin. He is the editor of the blog Places. (

Steve is a Senior Lecturer in Human Geography at Manchester Metropolitan University and he guides the Institute's work on place making and planning. He is a Trustee of the Manchester Geographical Society.

Cathy chairs the IPM Executive Board and is Professor of Marketing and Retail Enterprise at Manchester Metropolitan University Business School, where she leads and contributes to a number of commercial and research projects, in the areas of retailing, marketing and place management. She is also Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Place Management and Development and is Visiting Professor at Institute of Regional Development, University of Tasmania.

Simon is particularly involved in the Institute's work with town and city centres and the future of public markets. He is Practitioner Editor of the Journal of Place Management and Development and a former economic development consultant and Town Centre Manager. Previously Chief Executive of the Association of Town Centre Management and a Board Member of the Washington DC-based International Downtown Association and of Town Centre Management Europe, Simon is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts and a Visiting Professor at Manchester Metropolitan University.
