Study the COVID-19 Certification for Place Management

The approach to managing the spread of COVID-19 has involved strict restrictions on the movement of society. Now, as lockdown restrictions are eased, place managers need to understand more about how the virus is transmitted so they can do what they can to break the chain of transmission at a local level. This also means being able to spot, assess and manage risks.

In partnership with IPM Fellow and crowd science expert Professor Keith Still we have developed various e-learning materials to help inform place managers of the potential hazards linked to COVID-19.

The COVID-19 Certification for Place Management is an e-learning course designed to help place managers and leaders understand how the virus is transmitted and identify and assess risks and mitigate for them, in urban environments.

The course is delivered on a flexible online platform. The course can be completed in your own time within a one-week period. The course covers the key information around COVID-19, the impact of the pandemic, the risks and barriers related to re-opening the economy and forward planning for safely opening businesses as lockdown measures ease.

The course materials are available exclusively to all paid IPM and The BID Foundation members, there is a £100 fee to complete the course which includes an assessment and certification upon completion. The certificate demonstrates your understanding of COVID-19, the risks it poses in urban environments, and how to assess and manage those risks.

The course is already open to our membership and more than 60 members have already accessed the relevant materials or completed the online course.

The e-learning materials have made me feel better placed to brief my businesses and put into place plans to manage pedestrians on footpaths.
