The Institute of Place Management is seeking to appoint a membership coordinator to support the management and development of its growing membership community.

Based within the Business School, The Institute of Place Management (IPM) is the professional body and learned society for people who make better places. Owned and operated by Manchester Metropolitan University, but with its own constitution to improve standards of place management and support the professional development of the people who serve places, the IPM leads the Government's High Streets Task Force. This major initiative provides training, advice and insight to place leaders and place partnerships across England. The IPM also operates Communities of Practice, the most significant of these being The BID Foundation, the industry body for Business Improvement Districts. IPM also leads a number of projects investigating the changing nature of town centres and high streets, runs a successful MSc in Place Management and Leadership, and publishes the Journal of Place Management and Development, in partnership with Emerald.

About the role

The Membership Co-ordinator is the first point of contact for IPM members and coordinate the delivery of all IPM communications, marketing, membership, events and member support. They will work with University administrators to ensure all membership applications, and related activity, is processed smoothly. The postholder will also lead the planning and organisation of IPM and HSTF events and training activity.

The job is fast-paced and will involve working across multiple workstreams and will require regular internal reporting to the IPM Executive Board and TBF Leadership Group. They will also contribute to the development of projects and other IPM activity, as required.

We are seeking an enthusiastic, driven individual with an aptitude for customer service. The post holder will be the first point of contact for Members, therefore excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to convey complex information is a must.

The successful applicant will have social media account management experience, and the ability to plan, coordinate and deliver marketing campaigns. This will include the writing of content for websites, mailshots and bulletins etc. Event management will be a key aspect of the role, therefore experience in this regard is important.

For an informal discussion regarding the requirements of the role please contact Matthew Davis (matthew.davis@mmu.ac.uk).
