Manchester Met colleagues support local Christmas food bank appeal

Colleagues from across Manchester Metropolitan University came together to support a local Christmas food bank appeal, helping to prepare 200 food parcels for individuals and families in need.

Rachel Nickeas from the Institute of Place Management, Lucy Preston from the Institute of Children’s Futures, and Dr Yingwei (May) Chen, Lecturer at Manchester Law School, volunteered their time as part of a festive community action event. Alongside others, they helped sort, pack and prepare 200 bags containing essential items including a Christmas gift bag (hats, gloves, mugs, tea, biscuits, books) for vulnerable people spending Christmas alone.

The volunteering activity reflects Manchester Metropolitan University’s commitment to civic engagement and social responsibility, bringing together colleagues from different institutes and faculties to support local communities. Manchester Met continues to encourage staff and students to take part in volunteering and community-focused initiatives that support Manchester and the wider region.
